Vietnamese Ethnic Groups’ Culture Day celebrated

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese Ethnic Groups’ Culture Day is being celebrated at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village with the participation of 17 ethnic groups from 15 provinces and cities and people of 16 ethnic groups who live permanently at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village.

The event includes a forum entitled "Vietnamese Ethnic Culture – Resources for the development of a prosperous and happy country", an exhibition of ethnic cultural artifacts, performances of ethnic folk songs and dances, and ethnic folk games.

An exhibition of ethnic musical instruments, farm tools, and household utensils was held for the first time.

Ha Thi Xem, a Thai woman from Thanh Hoa province, said: “We have brought bring to the exhibition some household utensils of the Thai in Yen Thang commune. We will prepare our typical dishes and perform a ceremony to pray for peace and a bumper crop.”

People from different ethnic groups recreated their unique customs and festivals, such as the traditional agricultural ritual "Bringing rice to the warehouse" of the Mạ in Lam Dong province, the Chol Chnam Thmay Festival of the Khmer in Soc Trang province, and the Ché ceremony of the Ede in Dak Lak province.

H'Nam Nie, an Ede woman from Dak Lak province, said: “Our delegation has 40 artisans performing the Ché worship of the Ede, gong music of the Central Highlands, and folk dances. The atmosphere here is very exciting.”

A show called “Central Highlands love songs” will perform folk songs, dances, and music of the Ta Oi, Xo Dang, Co Tu, Raglai, and E De ethnic minority groups.
