Prime Minister Chinh on Friday chaired the 4th session of the National Steering Committee to implement Vietnam's commitments at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26).
He said green growth and fighting climate change is an urgent requirement for the shared development of the whole world, especially for Vietnam, one of the five countries hardest hit by climate change.
One of the development lessons is that Vietnam must combine national strength with the strength of the times, combine tradition with modernity, and take advantage of cooperation with major countries, the PM said.
At the session, the Steering Committee members listened to a report assessing how much Vietnam has implemented its COP26 commitments and a summary report of the plan to implement the Political Declaration establishing the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).
Participants discussed mobilizing resources to achieve the goal of net zero by 2050, shifting coal power to clean energy, the national energy master plan and the national electricity development plan.
