Addressing a debate as part of the 14th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Tianjin, China, PM Chinh pointed out current “headwinds” which are global economic recession, rising inflation, prolonged consequences of COVID-19, geostrategic competition, and the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Other challenges include complicated and unpredictable climate change, natural disasters, and epidemics.

Prime Minister Chinh said: "We need to strengthen international solidarity, promote multilateralism, and consider the people as the subject, the center, the resources and the driving force to brave the headwinds. Focus should be placed on recovering production and business, creating jobs, promoting trade and investment, unlocking resources and activating new growth drivers such as digital transformation, green growth and circular economy."
"It’s important to remove barriers, prevent protectionism, with priorities given to poor and developing nations. Attention should be paid to solutions to promote supply and demand, early seeking solutions to conflicts, and strengthening public-private partnership, and creating favorable conditions for businesses," said the Vietnamese Prime Minister.
Acknowledging PM Chinh’s opinions and orientations, WEF President Borge Brende said that the international community has recognized Vietnam as one of the countries with high economic growth in the region, which is developing dynamically and has a lot of potential to contribute more and more to regional and global economic growth.
The same day, Prime Minister Chinh attended the opening of the 14th Annual Meeting of New Champions. The event drew more than 1,400 leaders and ministers of 21 countries, and 850 global corporations, agencies and organizations. Vietnam is one of the five countries invited to attend at the Prime Minister level, along with the prime ministers of China, New Zealand, Mongolia and Barbados.
