PM attends 2023 ASEAN Business and Investment Summit

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Monday underlined ASEAN’s mandate to affirm itself as “a polar in a multi-polar world” and the center of regional cooperation and architecture. ASEAN is fully capable of fulfilling this mandate, he said at the 2023 ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ASEAN BIS) held in Jakarta, Indonesia as part of the 43rd ASEAN Summit and related meetings.

Mr. Chinh called on ASEAN to strengthen internal unity and maintain a common principle, stance and viewpoint as well as strategic balance between the group and its partners. ASEAN should also maintain long-term commitments on opening markets and promoting trade and investment.

It’s crucial to vigorously promote free trade agreements and regional and global economic connectivity, he noted.

As a reliable partner and an active and responsible member, Vietnam will continue to coordinate closely with Indonesia and other ASEAN states to build a united, self-reliant and developed ASEAN, contributing to maintaining peace, stability cooperation and joint development in the region and the world, said the PM.

"I’m confident that we’ll catch up with new trends, respond effectively to challenges, ensure a balance between the short-term goal of growth recovery and the long-term goal of sustainable development," said PM Chinh.
