The pioneering model is a collaboration between the Thua Thien–Hue Tourism Association and the “Hue – A City to Reduce Plastics in Central Vietnam” project.
There are currently 16 establishments participating in the model and implementing plastic reduction measures in Thuy Bieu.
They encourage tourists to use their personal items or provide tourists environmentally friendly water bottles, raincoats, and umbrellas when participating in cycling trips. The items are collected at the end of their trip.
For tours with cooking classes, bags and containers are provided so that tourists can do grocery shopping without using plastic bags.
Accommodations also have adopted refillable glass water bottles and have replaced shampoo bottles with dispensers.
Throughout the trip, there will be 5 stops for free water refills, a waste sorting system, and “green homes” to help tourists sort their recyclable waste according to regulations.
