Bus stations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City were packed with passengers heading back to their hometowns for Tet. Authorities were on duty from early in the day to regulate traffic and ensure safety for passengers.

At Mien Dong Bus Station, passenger Nguyen Thi Hoa was waiting to depart from Ho Chi Minh to Dak Lak. “I took the afternoon off to go back to my hometown. I was able to buy a ticket right away and now I’m waiting to board the bus. Ticket prices have increased, but not too much,” she said. 

More than 1,000 flights departed from and arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on Friday. Although passenger numbers rose sharply, they were spread evenly across different time slots, and the operation of the new Terminal T3 helped prevent excessive congestion at the airport.

At Sai Gon Railway Station, 16 trains departed on Friday, carrying around 8,000 passengers back to their hometowns to celebrate Tet.
