Kiritimati islanders on the Pacific Ocean were the first people to welcome the New Year. But the world’s first New Year Party was in Aukland, New Zealand with a brilliant fireworks display from the Sky Tower. Australia’s dazzling fireworks on the Sydney Harbor Bridge and Opera House would be the most spectacular event with the participation of nearly 1.5 million people.

In Britain, millions of people including foreigners enjoyed colorful fireworks, uplifted music, clouds of strawberry mist, and peach snow in London. Around 1 million people gathered in Brandenburg in Berlin, Germany, on New Year’s Eve. Meanwhile in Russia, tens of thousands of people poured to the Red Square in Moscow to celebrate the New Year.

In New York, hundreds of thousands of people watched see the crystal ball dropping and counted down to 2014.

In the Middle East, 400,000 fireworks lighted up the sky of Dubai city, United Arab Emirates in 6 minutes on New Year’s Eve.

South African people organized various activities on the New Year’s Eve including a solemn commemoration for late President Nelson Mandela.

Many Asian countries also welcomed the New Year with stunning fireworks. In Shanghai city, people enjoyed a mysterious 4D light show. While in Japan, pagodas’ bells were beaten 108 times to chase miseries and welcome the New Year.
