Party, State leaders extend Xmas greetings to Catholics

(VOVWORLD) -Trinh Van Quyet, head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communications, Education and Mass Mobilization, praised the spirit of "honoring God and loving the Fatherland" of Catholic citizens, while paying Christmas visits on Wednesday to the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City.

Meeting with Archbishop Nguyen Nang, Chairman of the Vietnamese Bishops Conference and Archbishop of the Ho Chi Minh City Archdiocese, and priests, and representatives of the Catholic community, Mr. Quyet praised their charitable activities and their support for people in disaster-stricken areas over the past year.

Archbishop Nguyen Nang said the Church will continue its social welfare work in the interest of peace for every family and sustainable national development.

During his visit to the Evangelical Church of Vietnam, Mr. Quyet said he hopes the church will continue working closely with the government and motivating its followers to promote great national unity. He expressed his confidence that consensus among religions will help to implement Party and State policies and give people a prosperous, happy life.

National Assembly Deputy Chairman Tran Quang Phuong visited the Chancery of the Diocese of Can Tho on Wednesday, where he delivered Christmas greetings and acknowledged the contributions of priests and the Catholic community to the cause of national construction and defense. He said the Catholic community has accompanied the nation, living the Gospel within the heart of the nation and practicing the motto “Good Life, Good Religion,” while always supporting Party guidelines and State laws.

On behalf of the Chancery, Priest Nguyen Van Vinh expressed his gratitude to the central agencies and the leaders of Can Tho city for their consistent attention and for creating favorable conditions for Diocese activities to take place stably and in accordance with the law, consolidating the great national unity.
