(VOVworld) – Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong has asked the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in the US to do their best to consult the Vietnamese government in accelerating the implementation of mechanisms and agreements reached between the two countries.

At a meeting with the Vietnamese Embassy in the US on Thursday, Trong stressed that the US is an important country to Vietnam, calling the embassy staff to further deepen the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership in the spirit of “setting the past aside and moving towards the future”.

The same day, Trong witnessed the signing ceremonies of 4 credit agreements worth a total of 507 million USD between Vietnam and the World Bank to support Vietnam’s agriculture, poverty reduction, and public transportation system development. Axel van Trotsenburg, Vice President of World Bank East Asia and Pacific Region, said Vietnam is one of the countries that have received the most World Bank’s preferential loans. He said World Bank wants to continue supporting Vietnam in poverty reduction and sustainable development.

On Friday, Mr. Trong left Washington for New York.
