Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong works with Hai Phong leaders

(VOVworld)- Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong has highlighted Hai Phong city’s strategic role in regional economic development. At a meeting with the city’s key leaders, the Party leader urged the city to become a modern port city, a national urban center, key transport point and main maritime gateway of the northern provinces. Trong asked local Party leaders to realize the Party resolutions in specific programs and actions. He stressed the need to reform the investment mindset, utilize all resources for development and attract further foreign investment: “Hai Phong city needs to work on its plans for the city’s development in the face of continuous fluctuations. It is necessary to strengthen inter-sectoral and inter-regional cooperation. The Party Central Committee has issued Resolution No 54 on the Red River Delta Development which also includes Hai Phong and Hanoi. We also need to focus on human resource training, which we consider to be an important step in boosting the city’s development”.

Mr. Trong expressed his hope that Hai Phong would become an industrial and service port city by 2015. To mark the occasion, he visited and presented gifts to the families of war invalids and martyrs.
