At the meeting in Hanoi, the two leaders discussed major directions and measures to boost the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Hungary, including effectively capitalizing on existing mechanisms such as the Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation, taking advantage of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the future EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).
They stressed the need to soon convene the Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation and ramp up cooperation in innovation. Hungary was asked to train Vietnamese nuclear experts.
The two sides agreed to boost cooperation in education, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, labor, and culture, and between localities, as well as coordinate to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Vietnam-Hungary diplomatic ties this year.
Both will continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially at the UN and within the ASEAN-EU framework, the two leaders said and voiced their support for resolving disputes by peaceful means, on the basis of respect for international law, for peace, stability and security in the region and the world.
Also on Wednesday afternoon, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Hungarian President Sulyok Tamas.
