Party Congress delegates praise national development orientations

(VOVWORLD) - Delegates attending the ongoing 13th National Party Congress in Hanoi praised the 12th Party Central Committee’s report presented at the meeting. 

Delegate Duong Duc Huy of Lao Cai province said that the report covers Vietnam’s major achievements during the last tenure and during 35 years of national renewal. It highlighted Vietnam’s persistence with Marxism-Leninism and reforms to develop and safeguard the country and pointed out challenges and opportunities facing Vietnam’s development.

Mr. Huy said, 'With the highest sense of responsibility, we discuss major guidelines in detail. We work in a proactive and serious manner and with strong determination on the draft documents of the Congress. Many of the tasks and solutions will focus on ethnic mountain areas including Lao Cai province.'

Do Trong Hung, Party Secretary of Thanh Hoa province said that Congress delegates need to uphold their sense of responsibility while contributing to the draft documents. It’s important to work out solutions to achieve the goals set at the Congress which include Party building, economic development, improving people’s lives and safeguarding national sovereignty, territorial integrity, law and order, he said.

Delegate Do Viet Anh of Ninh Binh province said the delegates want Vietnam to focus resources on infrastructure, particularly transport, and reduce logistics costs to increase national competitiveness.

The Congress, which opened on Tuesday, will review 35 years of renewal, 30 years of implementing the 1991 Political Platform, 10 years of implementing the 2011 Platform, and the implementation of the 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy, and set out socio-economic development orientations and tasks for 2021-2025, as well as targets and directions until 2030 with a vision to 2045. 

The Congress will also review Party building and rectification and the leadership of the 12th Party Central Committee, determine orientation and tasks of the Party in the new tenure, evaluate the implementation of Party regulations, and elect the 13th Party Central Committee.
