(VOVworld) – The United Nations and the Palestinian government have called for international donors to provide 550 million USD in aid to help Gazans affected by a devastating war with Israel.

A settlement of 1.8 million people was destroyed by the 3rd conflict between the Israeli military and Hamas in 6 years. The 550 million would only be an emergency measure for the next several months. Gaza needs a long-term ceasefire, a political solution, and a lift of blockade and sanctions

Earlier, Egypt announced an international meeting of donors for Palestine in Cairo scheduled for October 12. This is the 3rd time donors have been called on to support the reconstruction of Gaza.
