Nawaz Sharif told parliament on Friday that he had allowed the organization of meetings between General Raheel Sharif and opposition parties after receiving a request for military help from Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s leader, Tahir ul-Qadri, and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf chief, Imran Khan. But neither the Sharif’s administration nor the army has sought any role in the mediation for the current crisis. Sharif said talks, with or without the army mediation, can’t create a breakthrough for the situation.
