(VOVworld)- Pakistan's government plans to put former President Pervez Musharraf on trial for treason for suspending the constitution and declaring a state of emergency in 2007, the interior minister said Sunday. Musharraf could face the death penalty or life in prison if he is convicted of treason. This is the first time in Pakistani history, a former President was put on trial for the country’s benefit. Pervez Musharraf showed up in March last year after 4 year living in exile. He was confined in April after being questioned on abuse of power from 1999 to 2008.
