(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday reiterated Pakistan’s call for dialogue with India to ensure lasting peace in the region, saying they need to sit at the table and address pressing issues, including Kashmir, water, and terrorism.

Sharif was addressing the Pakistan-Turkey-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit in Lachin, Azerbaijan, attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Sharif underscored Pakistan's stance on regional peace, saying it is ready to resolve all issues with India through talks.

He said if India wants to talk sincerely about countering terrorism, Pakistan is willing to talk with India about this issue, too. Pakistan is interested in resuming trade relations, stalled since tensions escalated in recent years, said Sharif.

This is Pakistan's latest move signaling a desire to reopen dialogue with neighboring India over longstanding issues after an April 22 terrorist attack in India's Union Territory of Kashmir and a four-day border skirmish earlier this month.

The violence prompted a series of punitive actions from India, most notably the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and the diversion of river flows to prevent water from reaching Pakistan.
