Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son |
Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son appreciated the important role of overseas Vietnamese representative offices in promoting trade, investment and labour cooperation, as well as international integration efforts by localities and businesses.
The diplomatic sector has worked with ministries and agencies to establish strategic and comprehensive partnerships with 27 partners, and sign 16 free trade agreements (FTAs), creating political, economic and legal frameworks for Vietnamese businesses to operate equally and beneficially in the international market.
Mr. Son said: “Vietnam’s international integration will face many difficulties, and businesses will be the first to be challenged by protectionism, risks from trade wars and the 4th industrial revolution. Businesses will have many demands which are more complicated and difficult to meet. The meeting will discuss the best solutions for diplomatic agencies to work side by side with businesses.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs introduced a survey, to gauge business demands in order to offer corresponding support. Huynh Van Thon, Chairman of the Loc Troi Group, said: “We have many expectations and two of them are to connect with foreign businesses and maintain regular contact with overseas diplomatic agencies. During international integration, it’s important to avoid legal risks and we hope to be supported in this matter.”
