Over 500,000 people have fled Sudan, says the UN

(VOVWORLD) -Filippo Grandi, the head of the UN's refugee agency, said on Tuesday that the number of people who have fled the fighting in Sudan is now more than 500,000, while two million are internally displaced.

He said at a press conference in Nairobi on World Refugee Day that if the conflict does not end, the exodus of Sudanese people will continue.

Sudan has been raged by conflict since April 15, with the army battling the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), killing more than 2,000 people and displacing 2.5 million people, and sparking a major humanitarian crisis.
