“One Battle After Another” sweeps Golden Globes 2026

(VOVWORLD) -“One Battle After Another” and “Hamnet” emerged as the big winners at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, held on Monday in California, the US.

“One Battle After Another” directed by Paul Thomas Anderson led the night with four wins from nine nominations, taking Best Motion Picture–Musical or Comedy, along with Best Screenplay and Best Director for filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson, and Best Supporting Actress for Teyana Taylor.

Timothée Chalamet won his first Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture–Musical or Comedy for his portrayal of an ambitious table tennis player in “Marty Supreme”.

Defying many predictions that favored Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners”, “Hamnet”—adapted from Maggie O’Farrell’s bestselling novel—won Best Motion Picture-Drama. Directed by Chloé Zhao, the film recreates the grief of William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes Hathaway as they confront the death of their son. Jessie Buckley was honored with Best Actress in a Motion Picture-Drama for her role as Agnes Hathaway, helping “Hamnet” become one of the standout films of the season.

In other categories, Wagner Moura won Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his performance in “The Secret Agent”, which also earned Best Motion Picture–Non-English Language for the Brazilian production.

Stellan Skarsgård took Best Supporting Actor for “Sentimental Value”, while Rose Byrne won Best Actress in a Motion Picture–Musical or Comedy for “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You”. Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” received the awards for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and Best Original Score.
