Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will jointly address the fair’s opening ceremony. US Ambassador to Germany John B. Emerson said President Obama will address efforts to advance negotiations on the TTIP deal, which he hopes will be finalized before the end of his term.

Thousands of people are expected to march in Hannover against the TTIP during Obama’s visit, because they are concerned that joining the TTIP will lower the environmental and social standards of Germany and the EU.
