US President Barack Obama on Friday announced a new US counter-terrorism strategy involving tighter oversight of US unmanned drone strikes and shutting down the US detainee center at Guantanamo Bay. Obama said that despite the weakening of the international terrorist group Al Qaeda, the US still lives with terror threats. The recent Boston bombing is an example. Obama said the US will exterminate Al Qaeda and related-forces, transfer responsibility to the Afghan army, and train an anti-terrorism force in Afghanistan. And the US will continue to use unmanned aircraft to chase terrorists. Obama said the US detention center at Guantanamo Bay has to close due to its illegality and high cost.
