Leader Kim Jong Un and other senior officials appeared on a balcony overlooking Kim Il Sung Square, where tens of thousands of people were waving flags and bouquets of flowers and raising over their heads portraits of great leader Kim Il Sung, former leader Kim Jong Il, and leader Kim Jong Un.

Kim Yong Nam, President of the presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, addressed the parade before it began, congratulating Kim Jong Un for being elected chairman of the ruling Workers' Party. He called for national solidarity and full respect for Kim’s leadership.

The four-day party congress ended on Monday. KCNA reported that the Central Committee of the party has already convened its first meeting and elected key posts.
