In a statement published by the official KCNA news agency, North Korea's foreign ministry warned Washington that if it did "rig up the illegal and unlawful 'resolution' on harsher sanctions, Pyongyang shall make absolutely sure that the US pays due price".

The United States circulated a revised draft resolution on Sunday regarding a new set of sanctions against North Korea over its recent nuclear test. The draft included concessions to Russia and China to seek for their support in a Security Council vote on Monday. The new draft, while slightly more lenient than the original, includes a "progressive" oil embargo on North Korea.
