Minister Massaoudou said President Bazoum’s government is still the legal and legitimate power and calls for resistance against the so-called “coup”.
Niger’s President Mohamed Bazoum also took to social media on Thursday with a defiant vow to protect “hard-won” democratic gains a day after he was toppled in a military coup.
In a late-night address on Wednesday on national television, Colonel Amadou Abdramane, a spokesperson for a group of soldiers announced that Bazoum had been removed from power and a nationwide curfew has been imposed.
