At his swearing-in ceremony, President Phuc, 67, vowed to do his best to fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, State, and people.
“As a National Assembly deputy and State President, I will work closely with the National Assembly, the Government, and the entire political system to realize the vision, orientation, and comprehensive national development strategy in the spirit of leaving no one behind, particularly people in remote, border, and island areas.”
President Phuc said Vietnam’s GDP totaled 1.2 trillion USD and 8 million new jobs were created in the past 5 years.
Mr. Phuc served as Vietnam’s Prime Minister from April 2016 to April 2021.
He took office in April as President of Vietnam for the 2016-2021 tenure.
The same day, lawmakers elected Vo Thi Anh Xuan as Vice State President, Truong Hoa Binh as Chief Judge of the Supreme People's Court, and Le Minh Tri as Chief of the Supreme People's Procuracy.
