President Phuc said that in order to organize the Games, the Prime Minister and people of Japan had to overcome many obstacles, including an unprecedented global pandemic.

Mr. Phuc expressed his wish that the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics will be a great success. 

He said the Olympic torch that will be lit in Tokyo will symbolize the bravery and strength of all humans facing this pandemic, and the resilience and spirit of Japan – one of the strongest and most prosperous nations in the world and a valued strategic partner of Vietnam.
