Nam Tra My is one of six mountain districts in Quang Nam province that are considered the land of Ngoc Linh ginseng. For 20 years Nam Tra My district has been developing indigenous plants of high profitability. Ngoc Linh ginseng is now grown on 15,000 hectares in 7 communes of Nam Tra My district by 1,250 households.
At the Festival’s opening ceremony, Phan Viet Cuong, Secretary of Quang Nam province’s Party Committee, said that the district needs to effectively implement the Program for the Development of Vietnamese Ginseng until 2030 with a vision to 2045, which is attached to national target programs.
"It is also essential to encourage enterprises to work with local people to develop herbal material areas, set up ginseng cooperatives, and process and promote Ngoc Linh ginseng products. We’re determined to promote Nam Tra My district as a hub of Ngoc Linh ginseng and a National Center of Rare, Precious Medicinal Materials," he said.
