(VOVWORLD) - The new head of Iran's Quds force said he aims to expel the United States from the region after its commander, Qassem Soleimani, was killed in a US strike in Baghdad last week, state media reported on Monday.

Esmail Qaani’s comments came as the Iranian people flocked to Tehran for Soleimani’s funeral.

Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei prayed over the remains of Soleimani as hundreds of thousands of mourners gathered in Tehran for the second day of the general's funeral on Monday. All commemorative activities are being broadcast live on TV.
