(VOVworld) – The Greek government has questioned the EU’s moves to impose more sanctions on Russia.

The Greek government office said that it opposed an EU statement issued in Brussels Tuesday, which paves the way for additional curbs on Russia over the conflict in eastern Ukraine. It added that the announcement had violated “proper procedure” by not first securing Greece’s agreement. Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras also told EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policies, Federica Morgherini, about his objection in a telephone call.
