(VOVworld) – The government has approved a number of policies on the use and management of farm land, and the development of large economic groups. Under a decree which will take effect this July, farmers will receive compensation for their losses in case of natural calamities and epidemics, in addition to their annual production support. For example, the government will support farmers with 70% of their expenses for fertilizers and pesticides when they suffer losses of more than 70% in their production. 70% of land reclamation costs will also be subsidized.

The government has announced it will make the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group a stronger economic group to ensure Vietnam’s energy security. The government has urged the group to improve its competitiveness by making full use of its potential with priority given to the coal industry, mining, electricity, mechanical, chemical, and construction materials industries.
