Minister Dien was speaking during Friday’s phone talk with  British Secretary of State for Business and Trade Kemi Badenoch on UK membership of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Mr. Dien said the participation of the UK, an economic power and one of the most developed countries in the world, will bring an excellent trade and business opportunity to CPTPP members and reaffirm the CPTPP as a high-standard trade pact and a role model for regional economic cooperation in the 21st century.

Secretary Badenoch reiterated that joining the CPTPP is one of the UK’s top priorities.

She said she hopes negotiations on the UK’s accession will be completed in principle at the upcoming meeting in Vietnam’s Phu Quoc island next Monday.
