Since the first batch arriving on February 24, nearly 2.9 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine have been delivered to Vietnam.
Vietnam has to date administered over 1 million doses to frontline medical staff, members of COVID-19 prevention and control teams, members of public security and army forces, with 28,500 being given enough two shots.
The Ministry of Health estimated that Vietnam will have some 110 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines by late this year, including 38.9 million from COVAX Facility – a global vaccine sharing mechanism, 30 million from AstraZeneca, and 31 million from Pfizer/BioNTech.
Vietnam reported an additional 80 COVID-19 cases early Wednesday, raising the national tally to 5,931.
2,794 patients have been given the all-clear so far. The number of fatalities stands at 44.
