(VOVworld) - A three-day National Vi-Giam Folk Singing Festival was held in the central province of Nghe An with nearly 700 artists, singers, and instrumentalists from 22 clubs to take part in. The organization board awarded 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, and 6 third prizes to clubs. Phạm Thị Ánh Ngọc is a member of Hồng Lam club in Vinh City: “I grew up with folk music. The festival is a playing-field and a useful program. The festival helped me learn more folk songs that I never heard and never had a chance to perform before”.
Nghe An province is now seeking UNESCO recognition of this art as one of the World Intangible Heritage.
