At its 42nd session in Hanoi on Wednesday, the Standing Committee gave comments on the revised draft Law on Government Organization and two draft resolutions of the National Assembly on the organizational structure of the Government as well as on the structure and the number of members of the Government for the term of the 15th legislature.
During the session, Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra reiterated the Government’s proposal that the National Assembly decide on the organizational structure of the Government for the 15th term including 14 ministries and three ministerial-level agencies. In particular, the Government will establish six new ministries on the basis of merging and rearranging the current 11 ministries.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man told the session, "We amend the revised Law on Organization of the Government to decentralize power more strongly to the Government so that the Government can proactively remove current and future difficulties and obstacles for the country to develop. The amendment must ensure consistency of regulations."
On Wednesday morning, commenting on the revised Law on Local Government Organization, the National Assembly Standing Committee basically agreed with the Government's proposal to adjust the organization of local government models and local government levels in each type of administrative unit in line with urban, rural, mountainous and island areas.
