She urged for better preservation of ethnic cultural identities, considering it an important task in sustainable development: “Provinces and agencies should promote the role by cultural stakeholders in the preservation and promotion of ethnic cultural identities. This will ensure the best condition for ethnic people to benefit from and enjoy their cultural innovation. Cultural heritage protection and promotion should be combined with economic development and sustainable tourism.”

Vietnam has more than 750,000 Dao ethnic people, living mostly in northern mountainous provinces.
