Hundreds of thousands of homes have been destroyed or damaged; 82,000 hectares of rice and other crops have been ruined; 3.4 million heads of livestock and poultry have been killed or swept away; and numerous roads have been damaged. Total losses are estimated at 490 million USD.
To help affected communities stabilize their lives, Ho Chi Minh City has set up 18 collection points, including 14 stations along Metro Line 1, which have already received 1,300 tons of relief goods.
The municipal Relief Mobilization Committee has raised 9.5 million USD, plus 29,000 medical kits and 70 tons of rice worth 5.4 million USD. 168 local chapters of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in communes, wards, and special zones in Ho Chi Minh City have set up their own collection points and are mobilizing and dispatching goods to flood-hit localities.

On Monday afternoon, Hanoi delivered 1.2 million USD in emergency aid to Dak Lak, Lam Dong, and Khanh Hoa province. The same day, the Ministry of Education and Training instructed provincial education departments to assess damage to school facilities and equipment, and announced that all textbooks for students in affected areas will be provided free of charge.
In condolence messages sent to Party General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong, Russian President Vladimir Putin underscored the severity of the disaster in central Vietnam and extended his heartfelt sympathy. He extended condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wished affected communities a swift recovery.

In a message posted on X on Monday, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijith Herath wrote: “We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims, the injured, and all those affected by this natural disaster. Sri Lanka stands in solidarity with the people of Vietnam and hopes life will soon return to normal.”
At the sixth meeting of the Vietnam–EU Joint Committee on implementing the Vietnam–EU Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, held Monday in Brussels, Paola Pampaloni, Acting Managing Director for Asia–Pacific at the European External Action Service, expressed condolences to Vietnam over the storm and flood damage.
She said the EU has provided 850,000 euros (or 980,000 USD) in aid and has called on member states to contribute. The first relief shipment from Luxembourg has already arrived in Vietnam.
