NA sets GDP growth target of 6.5% for 2023

(VOVWORLD) - On Thursday, NA deputies adopted a Resolution on Socio-Economic Development Plan in 2023 setting a GDP growth target of 6.5%. Under the Resolution, GDP per capita will be 4,400 USD, CPI will be 4.5%, and poverty will reduce 1-1.5%.

In his address, Chairman of the Economic Commission Vu Hong Thanh said the GDP growth target was calculated based on the domestic and overseas situation with consideration of advantages and disadvantages in 2023 and the 2021-2025 Socio-Economic Development Plan.

The GDP growth target of 6.5% demonstrates the government’s determination to ensure sustainable socio-economic recovery and development as well as the harmony and flexibility in realizing targets set for 2023.

To reach the targets, the NA stressed the need to manage prices of essential goods including electricity, gas, petroleum, and other essentials that support production and businesses and at the same time control inflation.
