The bill adds regulations on vocational skill development, setting a national vocational skill framework, supporting training activities, and improving the level of vocational skills development for workers.
Tran Thi Thanh Lam, a deputy for Ben Tre province, underscored the impact of labor quality on socio-economic development, adding, “According to international organizations, vocational skills will be the new international currency in the future labor market, because they improve competitiveness.”
“A skilled workforce will have a decisive impact on productivity. If it is considered a currency, it should have a denomination. In that case, we need to create hierarchical vocational skill standards,” Lam noted.
Deputy Truong Xuan Cu of Hanoi expressed concerns about the aging workforce, adding that Vietnam has 15,000 associate professors and 25,000 doctors.
“Many Vietnamese professors are internationally known. In the new era, Vietnam should pay greater attention to promoting these experts rather than just exporting labor. These experts represent the position and reputation of Vietnam and increase Vietnam’s income,” said Cu.
The National Assembly on Wednesday voted to adopt the Law on People's Air Defense, the revised Law on Trade Unions, and the National Assembly resolution on investment policy for the National Target Program on Cultural Development until 2035.
