(VOVworld) – On Sunday, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attended a symbolic ceremony to deliver 87,000 glasses of milk worth 25,000 USD to kids in Can Tho city.
One day earlier, Ms. Ngan launched a program of awarding 110 scholarships to outstanding poor students of the city. The program called “Journey of love” is sponsored by the Fund for Support of Vietnamese Children, the Alaska Media and Entertainment Company and Can Tho City’s Department of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs. The program, which will run over the next 5 years in 63 provinces and cities nationwide, is aimed at disseminating information on the rights of child and child protection, and appealing for support of disadvantaged children and pupils. About 7,000 children are expected to receive scholarships from the program.
