(VOVworld) – The National Assembly approved on Wednesday the 2016 state budget which allows a budget deficit of approximately 4.95% of GDP. The budget resolution asks the government to tighten the fiscal policies, continue to stabilize the macro-economy, control inflation, and achieve higher economic growth. The government is also urged to improve budget discipline and carry out budget estimates in accordance with the law.

Lawmakers agreed with a report by the National Assembly Standing Committee of remaining differences over revisions to the Maritime Code to meet future development requirements of Vietnam’s maritime sector, particularly with regard to national economic restructuring and international integration. Deputy Tran Du Lich represents Ho Chi Minh City: "I propose that greater priority be given to developing Vietnam’s maritime sector, which is the future of Vietnam’s economy due to our geographic advantages in Asia Pacific. I stress the need to specify a spearhead industry in our maritime sector, and encourage investment in this industry while applying necessary protection measures in accordance with the 2013 Constitution."

Lawmakers heard reports on the draft Law on Information Access and discussed remaining differences on the draft Law on Fees and Charges.
