Myanmar parliament approves nominees of cabinet members

(VOVworld) - Myanmar's Union Parliament on Tuesday approved the nominees for cabinet members, proposed by President U Htin Kyaw. Leader of the National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Kyi took the positions of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of the President's Office.

U Myo Thein Gyi was appointed as Minister of Education and U Pe Zin Tun as Minister of Electric Power and Energy. U Myo Thein Gyi is currently director- general of the Department of Higher Education, while U Pe Zin Tun is currently permanent secretary of Ministry of Electric Power and Energy.

U Tun Tun Oo was appointed as Attorney-General, while U Maw Than is Auditor-General.

President U Htin Kyaw proposed Aung San Suu Kyi become the counselor of the state. Once approved, she will guide the Parliament.
