More than 12,000 COVID-19 infections added to national tally

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam recorded 12,103 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, according to the Ministry of Health.

Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s current largest pandemic hotspot, reported the highest number of infections with 5,481 cases, followed by neighboring provinces of Binh Duong (4,049) cases and Dong Nai (797). Hanoi recorded 61 cases.  

Of the latest infections, 6,468 were found in the community.

The new infections brought the country's total count to 422,469.

Also on Saturday, additional 12,375 patients were given the all-clear, raising the total number of recoveries to 210,989.

Meanwhile, the country’s coronavirus-related death toll has reached 10,405 after additional 352 fatalities were reported the same day.

Vietnam has to date administered over 19 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
