The Association reported that the export value of aquatic products last month was 28% higher than a year ago, bringing the total for the past 10 months to more than 8.2 billion USD, up 11% from last year. VASEP PR Director Le Hang said that because of a strong rebound in demand for seafood in key markets, Vietnamese aquatic exports saw impressive growth in October.
Exports to China and Hong Kong (China) surged 37%. Strong growth was seen in other markets, such as the US (31%), Japan (22%), the EU (27%), and the Republic of Korea (13%).
As of the end of October, seafood exports to China and the US totaled 1.5 billion USD. If the current growth rate for China continues at 20% for the last few months of the year, China could surpass the US as Vietnam's largest seafood import market by year’s end.
