Participants also raised five areas namely digital transformation, trade facilitation, sustainable development, certification and quality standards that Vietnam should prioritize in the next phase of building a national export strategy.

Their reports were heard at Wednesday’s workshop called “Consultation to get opinions on sectors and priority areas in developing a National Export Strategy" as part of the Vietnam Trade Policy and Export Promotion Project sponsored by the Swiss Government co-organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the International Trade Center.

Experts pointed out that the agro-processing and furniture industries have relatively low export potential, but there may be other advantages. Therefore, they stressed the need to significantly reposition these industries to create more value.
