Meeting with Pier Giorgio Aliberti, Ambassador, Head of the EU Delegation to Vietnam in Hanoi on Friday, Minister Hoan asked that the EU consider removing the "yellow card" imposed on Vietnam.

He also said the agricultural products exchanged between the two sides are complementary and wanted EU businesses to increase investment in Vietnam’s agriculture, particularly with high tech, deep processing, application of green standards, environmental sustainability, and close connection with local businesses and farmers.

Vietnam encourages and creates conditions for the EU’s FDI enterprises to export necessary machinery, equipment, technology and raw materials to Vietnam during the investment process, Mr. Hoan said.

At the meeting, both the Minister and Ambassador agreed that there have been potential for two sides to promote trade of agricultural products, such as rice from Vietnam, vegetables and fruits from both Vietnam and the EU, processed products, and products with geographical indications.

Vietnam and the EU are seeking to promote trade of agricultural, forestry and fishery products as the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) has been in effect since last August.
