The event was jointly sponsored by Dien Bien province, World Vision International Vietnam, and German Relief Alliance (ADH) to raise the community’s awareness and ability to respond to natural disasters.

This year's theme was “Anticipatory action – a proactive approach to disaster management”.

Dien Bien is a province heavily affected by thunderstorms, tornadoes, hail, flash floods, landslides, severe cold, drought, and earthquakes, which has challenged Dien Bien's sustainable development goals.
