Massive parade celebrates Vietnam’s National Day in Hanoi

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam will hold a grand parade celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2) on Tuesday morning at the historic Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi.

Attending the event are senior leaders of the Party, State, Government, and National Assembly of Vietnam, revolutionary veterans, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, Labor Heroes, military generals, representatives of political organizations, unions, and a large number of Vietnamese people.

Foreign guests include General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith; First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and his wife; Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji; President of the Senate of Cambodia and President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Samdech Techo Hun Sen; President of the House of Representatives of Belarus Igor Sergeenko, plus representatives of leaders of several countries and representatives of embassies and international organizations in Vietnam.

The celebration will open with the Thang Long drum performance, the traditional torch procession and the flag-raising ceremony. General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam will deliver a speech highlighting the great significance of the August Revolution to the history of national development.

There will be a parade involving 16,000 people, with the welcome flight of the Vietnam People's Air Force. Next is the parade of the honor guard, the Vietnam People's Army, the foreign armies, the militia, the guerrillas, and the police. They are followed by a parade of military vehicles, artillery, specialized police vehicles, and the march of civilian groups. Simultaneously, a sea parade will be held in Khanh Hoa province.

After marching through Ba Dinh Square, the formations will pass through Hanoi’s central streets.
