The trip, which also includes Indonesia and Singapore, aligns with France’s Indo-Pacific strategy launched in 2018.

Ambassador Brochet said that President Macron has chosen Vietnam as the first destination of his tour to reaffirm the strong and special bond between our two nations. "We share a long history, and over the past three decades, bilateral cooperation and people-to-people exchanges have continuously developed.”

“During Party General Secretary To Lam’s visit to France in October last year, the two countries upgraded their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership. President Macron’s visit, only eight months later, clearly reflects the quality of our bilateral relations and both sides’ determination to deepen this partnership,” Brochet added.

During his first State visit to Vietnam from Sunday to Tuesday, President Macron will meet with senior Vietnamese leaders to discuss cooperation across a wide range of areas including politics, economics, defense, education, research, culture, energy, and innovation. Multiple bilateral agreements are expected to be signed. He is also scheduled to deliver a speech at the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH). In Ho Chi Minh City, the French Tech Summit will launch the France–Vietnam Year of Innovation.
