Lunar New Year gifts delivered to Nam Du island

(VOVWORLD) - Gifts from mainland residents were delivered to soldiers and civilians on Nam Du Island on Tuesday by a delegation from the Naval Region 5 Command, together with provincial and city leaders and business representatives from the Kien Hai Special Zone, An Giang province.

The recipients were military, civil, educational, and medical units, such as Radar Station 600, Border Guard Post 742, the Nam Du Lighthouse, local schools, the medical station, and administrative authorities in An Son Sub-zone.

Nguyen Hong Son, a member of the Tay Ninh provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh provincial People’s Council, said: "In addition to national defense and security duties, officers and soldiers actively support local people in daily life, including healthcare and education."

On this occasion, soldiers and residents on Nam Du Island celebrated an early Lunar New Year at Radar Station 600, making traditional square sticky rice cakes and sharing warm military–civilian bonds.

Earlier, the delegation paid tribute at the memorial for victims of storm Linda in 1997.
