Last month, the Prime Minister approved an investment of 148 million USD in the Lien Chieu seaport to upgrade its infrastructure until 2025. Once completed, the seaport will be able to accommodate large vessels weighing up to 100,000 tons and container ships of up to 8,000 TEUs.

Le Quang Nam, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang municipal People’s Committee, called for more JICA recommendations to finalize the investment project.

“Da Nang authorities are committed to doing everything we can and coordinating closely with JICA – the consultant – to carry out this project. As seaport is quite a new matter to Da Nang, but we believe we can accomplish it with JICA’s support,” said Nam.
